Vintage Chinese Chinoiserie Lacquer Heart Shaped Box

Vintage Heart Shaped Chinoiserie Jewelry Box. A beautiful hand made heart shaped box with Chinoiserie hand painted decoration of butterfly's and nectar flower buds. The box is made of wood with papier-mâché and wood ash paste then fine sanded to a supper smooth touch. After which the box is lacquered and sanded many times then hand painted. A warm rich red lacquer shows the hand painted butterfly's and flowers with worn gliding. This type of box was used for necklaces and string type jewelry. This is a delicate piece it has lasted 60 plus years. In very good condition as pictured. Some dings and surface scuffs see pictures. This is a collectible lacquerware box.
