A magnificent 19th-century Chinese Qing Dynasty wedding cabinet, very special elaborately decorated with exceptional gilt painting and lacquerwork.  The two central doors feature prominent, recessed oval medallions showcasing a heavily detailed, hand-painted gold landscape. The central panels feature shanshui (mountain-and-water) landscapes painted in gold.  The scenes depict traditional Chinese pagodas, winding mountain paths, trees, and water elements set against a deep, dark lacquer base. The dark lacquer surface exhibits a natural aging texture often referred to by collectors as "alligator-ing".  This beautiful cracking pattern develops naturally over many decades and serves as an authentic hallmark of true antique lacquer.  Surrounding the main oval medallions and across the upper paneling are finely carved and gilded openwork scrolls featuring stylized floral and foliage motifs.  Built in a traditional armoire shape, it includes two large main doors over a pair of lower built-in drawers finished with corresponding gilt details and classical metal hardware.   The cabinet on the right side has a clothes hanger with three hooks for hanging that rotates 360.  On the left side are three compartment shelfs also three smaller drawers with working locks and keys.  A stunning piece that is completely functional for everyday use.  In very good original condition.   Guangdong Province, Chaozhou China 1870 -1880.
