19th Century Apothecary Cabinet Chest of Drawers. A Qing Dynasty Apothecary Chest of Drawers from Northern Shanxi China. The hand hued wood has a charming character all its own and is evident throughout the piece. The drawer plates have carving of open curtains suggesting the contents of the drawers to be very special. Stylistically Shanxi with a panel top soft waist detail over hanging eased rounded legs, constructed of northern Elm wood with tree sap lacquer. The sides of the case have beautiful leather like patina which is a result of the tree sap lacquer aging. A wonderful piece decoratively and useful with 12 drawers each having an internal size of 5Wx5.5Dx11.5L. The top is perfect for display of sculpture or art piece and can support 200lbs without issue. In very good condition.
